Trepidò
Trepido is a mountain tourist village on the borders between the Sila Grande and the Sila Piccola mountain ranges; a suburb of the municipality of Cotronei, it belongs to the Province of Crotone.

The village is one of the district of tourist villages found in the Sila facing the Ampollino lake which other than Trepidò are Palumbo Sila, Caprara, Villaggio Baffa, Villaggio Lopez and Villaggio Belcastro.

It rose up when the Ampollino lake was being created at the end of the 1920’s and was initially a village of single houses used by the workers who were constructing the dam. The village underwent strong development in the years following the end of World War II, attracting tourists fascinated by the suggestive Ampollino lake.

The interest from private investors and the successive growth of tourist villas and second homes concentrated the attention of many people investing in property who built other tourist villages around Trepidò, the most important of these being Palumbosila, Villaggio Lopez and Villaggio Baffa. The village of Trepidò was developed into two differing areas, Trepidò Soprano (Upper Trepidò) and Trepidò Sottano (Lower Trepidò).
