In the city of Crotone, it’s worth exploring the old town, which unfolds from the square of the Castello di Carlo V—a state-owned fortress—surrounded by imposing noble palaces such as Palazzo Morelli, home to the Territorial Office of Crotone and the Sila branch of the Superintendency for Archaeological Heritage of Calabria, and the 18th-century Palazzo Barracco.

From here, a maze of narrow alleyways (locally known as vineddri or vichi) leads to numerous small squares framed by grand aristocratic buildings. On Via Risorgimento, you’ll find the National Archaeological Museum of Crotone. Continuing on, you’ll arrive at the Cathedral and the central Piazza Pitagora, which serves as a junction between the old and new parts of the city.
